John M. (Marvin) Smith, Jr. was a family physician in San Antonio who was heavily Involved in civic affairs and was instrumental in the establishment of the medical school in San Antonio. The John M. Smith, Jr. , M.D. Collection consists of correspondence and newspaper clippings that provide background and insight into the funding, decisions, and work that went into the creation of the school, other civic projects Dr. Smith was involved in, and the history of the Smith and Burleson families.
